On the 21.10.2021 & 22.10.2021, the 2nd Young Scientist’s retreat of the SFB1321 took place.
It was a great opportunity for more than 40 young scientists from all levels - Master Students, PhD candidates and junior post-docs - to get together, share knowledge and experiences in a friendly environment. We started with a career workshop provided by Viola Kraus from talentEQ and continued with career sessions, where experts from industry underlined the unlimited opportunities for our younger generation of scientists. The second part of this two-day retreat focused on mental health awareness and conflict management. For the scientific part, our guest speaker from ULB, Dr. Ievgenia Pastushenko impressed the audience with a fantastic talk about EMT shaping the tumor heterogeneity, which was followed by a poster session in which twenty young scientists “competed” for the best poster presentation. Overall, in the 2nd young scientist’s retreat we combined different hot topics such as career development and mental health awareness with an exceptional scientific part. Based on the feedback we received, we are all looking forward to the 3rd young scientist’s retreat!
